Inspirations

Hello

This post is to explain the idealogy and inspirations behind the design of the building [Incase Andrew(The marker) Forgot].

The Architecture: The overall buildings’ base is a hexagonal shape. This is because i wanted for a shape which can interconnect with each other without shapes in between, symbolising the connection between the two different clients and the showroom where everything is displayed together without much discrimination. I wanted a modern semi-non-linear design hence is the reason behind the non-linear edged, but sequential walls, forming a hexagon. The roof was because of the word ‘interconnection’ thought Guccis' interconnected patterns in its designs and through its history and present. The basement was 'Stacking Blocks' (yet after the textures, the basement can be expressed as more "Artistic", since the inspiration came from the the artists' "paint mark" prints.

Gucci Floor- The concept behind the level was actually from its logo and brand history. Since the two G’s in the logo was linked with each other, hence the word “interconnected” was developed. Therefore why the roof pieces are connected and support each other. Colour scheme was chosen due to the idea where Gucci is a brand of “luxury” hence black, gold, tracing to its actual stores. The red and green are the colours of the brand itself hence its reason on the walls and roof.

CJ.Hendry Floor- The concept behind this floor was from the word “Stacking”. The inspiration of this came from C.J Hendry's colourful Lego block artwork, hence how the idea of blocks came about. The multi-coloured scheme was due to her occupation as an artist and having to work with various types of colours and shades. The token to the artists’ logo ( Circle base and her initials C.J), can be seen if you look at it from upon the stairs or bottom.

Stairs- The spiral stair case was made due to the idea of luxury and class, hence why it was made for Gucci, symbolising its concept. The staircase for C.J however was for the idea where she studied in University, but dropped out in pursuit of art, therefore I created a somewhat seemingly dysfunctional and uneven staircase, yet perfectly works, symbolising her life, with at the top being her footsteps as a average person to smaller steps symbolic for her transformation to individuality. In effect, C.J stairs also represent an idea where she would bring her individuality from "beneath" and display it to the the audience "above".

Additionalm Textures- The floor texture of Gucci is wooden plank based with the "Grained" aspect. This was because of Gucci Workshops traditionally having wooden floors and also it adds to the attribute of warmth and artisanism. The marble and custom tiled floor  in the showroom was due to showrooms having to be clean, tidy and have a degreee of formality. C.J.Hendry's floor texture was decided to be more liberal, with free distribution of colours on the blocks/steps and a black wooden floor surface, with the C and J acting as either tables of seats (white leather material).
